Bio
John J. De Goey has a national reputation as an authority on professional, unbundled financial advice in Canada. A frequent commentator on financial matters, he has written for a number of financial sources including Advisor's Edge, Canadian MoneySaver and MoneySense. He has been quoted in a wide variety of publications including Maclean's, The Globe and Mail and The National Post and has made numerous appearances on a wide variety of personal finance television programs, including CBC's Marketplace, ROB TV and Canada AM. In 2001, John won of the National Multi-Media Award conferred by the Canadian Association of Financial Planners.A former employee at Consumer and Corporate Affairs Canada and passionate voice for consumer interests, John believes in aligning the interests of financial advisors with the interests of their clients, fee transparency, consistent professional training and unbiased financial advice. He also believes that qualified financial advice is something most consumers should willingly pay for and that the payment should be through direct, transparent fees, in keeping with the approach used by more established professions. Those same attributes ensure that he remains in high demand as a stimulating speaker and a forceful change agent for an industry that is in the final throes of becoming a profession.
